Go Draw at Home
As part of the fun of Go Draw in School we have a fun drawing activity you can do at home over the weekend.
For this activity we are going to look at an artist called Pablo Picasso.
*** Parents/Guardians - You might want to read this bit about Picasso with your child ***
Pablo Picasso was a famous artist from Spain. When he was young, he was very good at drawing people so they looked real — just like a photograph. But as he grew older, he decided he didn’t always want his paintings to look realistic.

Instead, he liked to experiment and try new ideas. He helped create a style of art called Cubism. In this style, faces and objects are broken into shapes and shown from different angles all at once. That’s why some of his faces look a bit “odd.” An eye might be on the side of a face, or a nose might look like it’s pointing two ways!

Picasso wasn’t making mistakes. He wanted to show that there isn’t only one way to see something. He believed art should make us think, look closely, and use our imagination.
Here are some faces that Picasso drew
Draw like Picasso Game
All you need is a dice, some paper to draw on, and some pencils. This is much more fun if there is a group of you. Perhaps all the family could join in?
Take it in turns to role the dice. In the first round the number on the dice will show you what the shape of your Picasso head will look like. Make sure you draw it a good size, so you can add all the other bits! When you have the head drawn, take it in turn to role the dice again - this time adding the face parts. Remember to add two eyes - they don't have to be the same! (and possibly two ears!)

When you have drawn your Picasso face perhaps you could colour them in, perhaps you could draw the rest of the body! Or could you make a collection of Picasso Heads?
Why not bring your drawings to school on Monday so your teachers can see how much fun you had?
